riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 27, 2009 Dark brown pour with a thin head and stick lacing. The aroma is rather earthy with chocolate sweetness underneath. Not as robust as one would expect in the aroma department for an impy. Moderate sweet dark malts, chocolate, roast, followed by a lightly earthy finish. Lingering dry roast and earth. Some inky hop resins as well. Nice smooth drinking Imperial Stout. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 8, 2009 Tap @ Roots. Poured black with a thick beige head. Aroma of faint chalk and malts. A little noticeable alcohol with subtle mocha and coffee flavors. A little spiced and a mild hop earthiness. Chocolate syrup in the finish. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Sep 15, 2008 Draft at Uber. Pours jet solid opaque black. Thinnish moussy burnt tan head. Big coffee nose. Creamy body a bit above medium but surprisingly drinkable. Coffee, roast, and a tiny hint of campfire on the mid-palate. Long roasty resin finish. This isn’t a big beast by modern impy standards, not at all; it hides the booze well and the flavor profile is neither broadly complex nor strikingly powerful. But it’s a clean and easy-drinking big stout that has very appealing, simple notes of flavor. It’s very well-made. Aroma – Huge dark malt aroma with coffee and chocolate aromas.
Appearance – Dark black in color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor – Great stout flavor this was huge with great coffee and chocolate flavors also. There was some hops but they where not s huge they kicked your teeth in.
Palate – Great Stout Mouthfeel, great texture with a good dry finish.
Overall – One of the better Stouts for the day and the best for organic I have had. The flavors where strong and great. This was for the big beer drinker and people love this beer.
WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Feb 8, 2008 4th Brewery 07-08 Brew Trip with Bikesandbeer. Pours black with a light brown ring head. Nose of light malt. Taste is decent for the style but the alcohol is really way too low and was really ot enough for me. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 14, 2008 draft @ brewery - jet back w/ monster tan head; pours thick with strong aromas of chocolate, licorice and roasted malts; drinks creamy and smooth with rich chocolate flavors; not packing too much punch though for an imperial Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 23, 2007 On tap at Roots--Poured a deep brown-black body with a quickly dissipating medium foamy tan head. Nose of big roasted chocolate malts. Thick chocolate flavor with vanilla cream notes. As the beer warmed up, bitterness came to light and dominated towards the end. Good beer.
