Tap @ Brewpub: Dark black, nose of chocolate and cocoa, some mid level roast without any astringency. Licorice and sweet malt. The flavor is moderately bodied, good vanilla cream notes in the tail. The finish is lightly bourbony with some faint wood and vanilla. Alcohol, smoke. Good stout, could use a bit more complexity to drive it up there, but this hits everything I like.

On Tap at the BP. Black with a thin ring. Nice lacing. Soft roasted aroma with a lottle licorice. Smooth palatte amd loys of dark roasted flavor with some sweetness to soften everything. Slightly metalic after taste. Nice though.

On tap at the Roots brewpub during ABA Beer Tour 07. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with thick and creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate, black licorice and toffee. Taste is thick and syrupy, smooth and slick. Flavor has not only dark chocolate malt but tastes of cotton candy, candi sugar and some sour coffee. Finish is smooth, creamy and a raisin aftertaste. A very impressive imperial stout.

Draft: 1 finger tan head that is pure cream. Looks like a nitro pour but its CO2. Aroma of vanilla creme and chocolate. Flavor is quite mellow and smooth for an Imperial. It has coffee and chocolate notes and is malty but everything is smoother. Hint of vanilla. The roastiness and bitterness come in at the end. Very easy drinking for an imperial.

Poured black, big head that had to be spooned off and topped off. Smelled of chocolate and tasted of chocolate. Very syrupy. Aftertaste is a bit pungent and sour. Speaking of sour, the service at Roots is just that.

On tap at Roots, Portland. I had this down as 9.0%, but hey. Black colour with ruby edges. Disappearing tan head. Intense malt coffee/choc aroma. Quite thick and syrupy in mouth. Some sourness develops. Some nice black fruits, damson, plum. Juicy really. Bit of tar/molasses. Fruit is nice though. Good Impy stout. Dryish hop finish. Very well made.

Near black colour. Really toasty, nutty...toasted coconut maybe. They use it in a porter so I wouldn’t be surprised. Soft, a little watery actually but with toasted malt and light dark fruit flavours.
