Pours a dark, sort of blackish, brown color. A very roasty and chocolate smell rises from this outstanding stout. The flavor of this beer is very amazing. A near perfect balance of roasted malts, with hints of toffee and light hops. All these great flavors mask the alcohol this beer has.

4oz Taster - Spring Beer & Wine Festival - Portland OR
Aroma – Huge dark malt aroma with coffee and chocolate aromas.
Appearance – Dark black in color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor – Great stout flavor this was huge with great coffee and chocolate flavors also. There was some hops but they where not s huge they kicked your teeth in.
Palate – Great Stout Mouthfeel, great texture with a good dry finish.
Overall – One of the better Stouts for the day and the best for organic I have had. The flavors where strong and great. This was for the big beer drinker and people love this beer.

draft @ brewery - jet back w/ monster tan head; pours thick with strong aromas of chocolate, licorice and roasted malts; drinks creamy and smooth with rich chocolate flavors; not packing too much punch though for an imperial

On tap at the Roots brewpub during ABA Beer Tour 07. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with thick and creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate, black licorice and toffee. Taste is thick and syrupy, smooth and slick. Flavor has not only dark chocolate malt but tastes of cotton candy, candi sugar and some sour coffee. Finish is smooth, creamy and a raisin aftertaste. A very impressive imperial stout.

Dark brown pour with a thin head and stick lacing. The aroma is rather earthy with chocolate sweetness underneath. Not as robust as one would expect in the aroma department for an impy. Moderate sweet dark malts, chocolate, roast, followed by a lightly earthy finish. Lingering dry roast and earth. Some inky hop resins as well. Nice smooth drinking Imperial Stout.

Draught at the brewpub. Very dark ruby. Aroma of licorice and coffee. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Very roasty and really malty with plenty of licorice and aniseed. Stays away form the sticky sweetness that plagues many Imperial Stouts. I like this one!

Tap @ Brewpub: Dark black, nose of chocolate and cocoa, some mid level roast without any astringency. Licorice and sweet malt. The flavor is moderately bodied, good vanilla cream notes in the tail. The finish is lightly bourbony with some faint wood and vanilla. Alcohol, smoke. Good stout, could use a bit more complexity to drive it up there, but this hits everything I like.
