Colour... dark, cloudy brown with no head. Nose... very malty and roasty with hints of Xmas spice. Palate... sweet up front but not overly so, bitter and roasty on the soft palate with a long, subtly spicy finish. Well done, Craig! boFNjackson (1322), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2009 This seemed like the definitive winter ale. Tap... Poured reddish with a white head. Floral aroma. Good American strong ale with plenty of hops and sweet alcohol flavors. A little of a soapy finish, but not in a bad way. You know, this was a great beer, it may have gotten a better rating from me if it wasn’t overshadowed by their Epic ale and Flanders Red ale. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
