A true hop heads dream. A little unbalanced, but not too much. This is up there with my favorite IPA’s. Roots is a must see if in Portland. HopDevil1979 (117), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

THE most hoppy organic beer I’ve ever had, really well done, reminds of the love child of a Hop Devil and a 120 Minute! Light, hazy amber color with big head and hops that’ll leave you reeling! So stupendous. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 18, 2006 This was labelled Sharkbite on tap at brewery - Cloudy golden orange with a very stable creamy white head and lively carbonation. Huge hop aroma, full of spruce and pine tips, but just the slightest bit soapy. Flavor is literally just like cannabis, and I realize hops are a derivative of that plant family, but I literally feel like I have just smoked a joint aftertaste. Overall, overly hopped, tasty but unbalanced, by the resiny hop oils, this is a hop heads dream, but for someone who likes a little more maltiness, this is over the top. raphael (417), Portland, Oregon, USA

malt tries to make a flavor appearance but overwhelmed by strong citrus with some pine and alcohol. quickly warming. Light carbonation with some oil weight. harsh finsih. porterdude (170), Bellingham, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2005 Pours a oakish, murky, strawish color. The smell of Amarillo hops rises from this beer and plays with my nose. Deep hop bitter taste when first sipped. Gives way to citrus, and grassy flavors. A good maltback bone this beer sort of haves, just not enough to stand up to the hops. A good, but slightly un-balanced double IPA. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 23, 2005 Lightly murky with an orange-rust hue, clearer than the other Roots beers. Very nice sweaty hop juice nose containing pineapple, nutty apple juice and some sour citric notes. Flavor is less bitter than expected - smooth almost. Has a BO/sweat scent and flavor. Decent body but strange overall... like some farmhouse or saison qualities, which is nice, but it still doesn’t work so well. troopie (887), USA

Citrus and pine resin aroma. Hoppy flavour with some grapefruit notes. LIngering hop finish beerinmarch (2810), Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2005 Pours a slightly cloudy copper with a light red hue and a off-white head. Big sharp piney/citrus hop nose. I wish this brew had a bit more sweetness up front to balance out the massive hop bitter finish, maybe mash at a higher temp and get some more sweetness. The finish was very bitter, really stayed with you forever in a long dry finish.
