Cask - White Cliffs Beer Festival. Black in appearance with a foamy beige head. Smoky, barbeque aromas with some roast coffee notes. Burnt malt flavours mixed with a dark chocolate bitterness, more coffee tones and a dry bitterness on the finish. Average body but given the % this is surprisingly diverse.

Cask at the Eastbourne Beer Festival, 9th Oct 2008. Near black with berries and alcohol on the nose. Dark chocolate, malt, red fruits. Ok finish but a bit sweet and full bodied. Not as good as the sum of its parts.

Bottle. Black with a large beige foam. Aromas are oily with roast coffee. Some chocolate and liqourice with a light smokiness. Flavours are earthy, oily roast malts with a good amount of dark chocolate bitterness. Biter and dry hops on the finish. Very tasty.

500ml bottle @ Cardinal. Dark red/brown body, close to black with a small beige head. Roasted malt and licorices aroma. Flavor is mild and soft burnt malt, some coffee and licorices, fruity. Balanced and impressing flavorful porter at only 5% ABV.

Huge brown head. Deep dark brown body, barely translucent, with a strange, slow carbonation. Acidic coal-and-chocolate aroma with smoky, earthy notes. Dry smoky, earthy, burnt taste with watery chocolatey notes. Slightly one-dimensional. Dry smoky coarseish earthy aftertaste. Good, but could use more body. (0.5l bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger.)

500 ml bottle. Dark ruby red brown colour. Thick fine-laced beige head that clings to the glass. Rounded münchener and crystal malt aroma. Crisp and mellow hop bitterness at first then a toffee malt flavour. Very rounded, but with a slight note of roasted character. Really smooth.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Large tan head. Very nice aroma of chocolate (reminds me of the Norwegian "Kong Haakon Konfekt"), roasted malts and coffee. The flavour is roasty and fruity with a moderate acidity. Notes of coffee, chocolate, prunes and liquorice. Relatively light bodied, but nice.
