Commercial Description:
Our Cocoa Stout boasts a beautiful black body and tan head with notes of roasted barley, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Enjoy with dessert ‹ especially good in a float with vanilla ice cream. Round Barn beer is bottle conditioned, decant into a pint glass before drinking for the best taste experience. Contains lactose (milk sugar). (only at our Baroda and Union Pier locations.)

Corked and capped 750ml bottle from main brewery/winery location. Very dark brown, almost black with medium, creamy, long lasting, tan head. Aroma is sweet milk chocolate with a subtle amount of roast. Sweet cocoa base flavor with a good amount of roast and coffee, better that other cocoa stouts I’ve had in the past, good amount of yeast as well and vanilla. Medium to thin body that is well carbonated though at the same time a little watery. Not half bad but I can see how other people could think that this is too sweet.

750 via BBB63, thanks mike. Shared with bikesandbeer and gaggle of others. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose is too light for me to get much from it. Taste is sweet and chocolatey but overall kinda bland. Its sad because I liked the winter wheat.

bottle thanks to a friend. corked, capped bottle. nice brown head, looks like it should. smell is light, not much chocolate, some burnt, maybe some cream. taste is milky but thin, a little chocolate. pretty much exactly what you’d expect, maybe a little better. worth a drink. not bad.

750ml corked bottle and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Nearly opaque with a frothy beige head and good lace. Aroma has notes of chocolate as expected along with sweet and charred malts, grassy hops, twangy lactic acid, walnut, plum, fig, anise, and a hint of peat bog. The taste is simple chocolate and vanilla malt profile with a kick of cold coffee. Just a splash of hop bitterness and liquorice towards the finish. The mouth feel is smooth but far too thin for my liking. Some added oat to improve mouth feel and a bit of burnt sugar would up the ante for this beer.
