Commercial Description:
With more than 30 years of fermentation experience and an award-winning reputation in the industry, our line of hand-crafted brews embody the satisfying bold taste you've come to expect from The Round Barn. An unpretetentious American pale wheat beer, our Summer Wheat pours a cloudy golden-orange, just like a sunset over Lake Michigan. Its assertive wheat flavor is complimented with hints of citrus zest. Garnish with a slice of orange or lemon. Round Barn beer is bottle conditioned, decant into a weizen glass before drinking for the best taste experience.

Corked and capped 750ml from the winery/brewery. Very cloudy orange-amber with fizzy medium off-white head. Though light in aroma in general, hints of orange and off-dry malt come out with yeast and slight caramel. Flavor is very much cold-conditioned flavor with noble hops, notably saaz, noticable graniness, that at the same time has some tannic like qualities as well. Thin, watery body, that at first had some carbonation. This was a little bit of a dissapointment as there other beers have been better in my experience. I’ll see how the cocoa stout turns out next.

750ml corked bottle and served in my Ayinger hefeweizen glass: Slightly hazy light coppery hue with a big fluffy head which left excellent lace work upon the glass. The nose detects grassy and herbal hops (Saaz?), biscuity pale malt and husky wheat, and slight band-aid esters, very much an American Wheat has there are no notes of clove, banana or other weizen esters.

The taste is a mild blend of grassy bitterness, twangy wheat husks, slight fruity acidity and chalky pale malts. Not a lot of depth or zing to this beer. The mouth feel is sprite and thin-bodied, refreshing enough I suppose for the summer but the chalky finish is a turn off. A completely forgettable wheat beer but not offensive either (minus the price).
