Commercial Description:
This Belgian style pumpkin ale was inspired by the legendary midnight ride of Ichabod Crane. It is a Belgian style ale complimented by a light touch of pumpkin and spice. Fresh toasted pumpkins are added in the mash with the grains adding a touch of the season to the brew. The complex fruitiness and dryness of the yeast is enhanced by the addition of sugars during fermentation. The beer is lightly spiced with pumpkin spice, all spice, and brown sugar. The pale and toasted malts used, provide a pie crust taste and smell in the beer as the higher alcohol’s produced round out the finish.

This one poured a darker amber color with an eggshell white head. Aroma was slightly roasted and sweeter malts, some bread in there too. Flavor was bready, a bit grassy, no signs of spice at all. Not a bad beer, but a terrible pumpkin ale.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of slight spices, light Belgian yeast, and a hint of pumpkin. Poured amber/brown in color with a small, off-white head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Ok lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of cherries, light Belgian yeast, slight spices, and a hint of pumpkin. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Belgian yeast and slight spice finish is dry. A virtually pumpkin-less pumpkin beer.

Tap at CAH. Pours a hazy amber with golden notes and a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of a nice mix of pumpkin pie spices, toasted malt, nuts and light Belgian yeast character. Flavor of Belgian yeast esters, toastedalt, nuts, pumpkin pie spices and light pumpkin notes. Solid pumpkin ale.

On tap at the KSBF ’08. Poured a medium and hazy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pumpkin seeds, toasted grains, lightly spicy and some yeast. Tastes of pumkin seeks, pumkin rinds, lightly spicy and lighly toasty. I like my pumpkin ales with less spice and more pumpkin like this one.
