Commercial Description:
A beer for every occasion, with aromas of roasted caramel and toasted marshmallow hitting the nose from the three hand selected European barleys that carefully intertwine to create a bouquet of toasted caramel goodness. A light sprinkling of smooth traditional English and American Hops give the beer some real character and a pleasant floral fragrance. The light finish comes from the soft water we use from our local water supply which is untreated and unfiltered by the brewery. This beer was inspired by Chambersburg’s 1818 "Old Jail" that is one of the few structures to have survived the burning of Chambersburg by Confederate Forces in 1864. The jail also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. These ingredients brought together provide a uniquely hand crafted brew. The flavor and body of a well formulated craft ale and the easy going finish of a pale lager. "For every beer drinker there is a specific beer, but this is a specifically designed beer for every beer drinker!"

Sampled at brewery. Poured amber, with a creamy head. Aroma of toasted malt, light hop, sweet malt. Taste is more malt, with the bread and sweet malt, some nutty notes, and a light hop bite in the finish. Mouth is medium and the carbonation is average. Overall, a decent brew.

Poured an amber color on draft at the Half Moon, Kennett, PA. The aroma was caramel and earthy/musty malts, touch of grass. The flavor followed, earthy and herbal hops, some grass too, faint spicing from the hops, all supported by a caramel base. Nothing great, nothing bad.

Thanks to jcwattsrugger for sharing at Paul’s tasting. Growler pours dark brown with some white head. Couldn’t get much aroma off this brew. Flavor was very awkward, watery texture, and a smokey like flavor, not really a fan.

Thanks to jcwattsrugger. Amber pour with a thin white head. The nose is a bit sweet with a kiss of light malty character. Just a touch of light brown malt character and sweetness. It’s fairly clean but not overly distinguished.

Growler at Paul’s place for Kan’s visit. Pours a clear brown with a thin white head. Sulfurous burnt turnip aroma with a good bit of grain. Little bitter, little malty, quite grainy. Finishes up with a bit more bitterness.

On tap at the KSBF ’09 (Jail House Brown, but I assume this is it). Poured a dark amberish/brownish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, some nuttiness, and lighter roast. Tastes of chocolate, nuts, caramel, and bread.

very good beer. Nice color and a nice mellow flavor. Went down smooth and was slightly sweet. So far I’m pretty impressed with this Roy Pitz guy.
