A very nice English style ale. Some nice flowery aroma with a hint of hops. Taste is very smooth and refreshing, some good malt backing. Ending is smooth and nice.

500 ml bottle. Amber color, off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with some fruity hops. The taste starts with malts and finishes bitter. Not bad, not great.

02-Sep-08 (500-ml can: $1.99 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) This pleasing English ale pours a pretty, half-inch of creamy, off-white head capping a clear, amber body. Small, slowly moving carbonation bubbles rise in several stream through the beer. The beer smells nutty and malty with minimal hop presence, not especially aromatic, but soothing and inviting. On the palate, toasty malt, nuts, and a touch of butteriness offer smooth, relaxing flavors while hops and bitterness are minimal. Light-medium in body with moderate but soft carbonation for some really easy drinking here. Overall, a classic English ale, smooth and sessionable.

Usually one of the more consistent classic UK bitters to hit Australian shores. Very much at the bitter end of the spectrum, rather than the more typical estery / fruit profile. Quite serious actually. Quite dry and midweight but the bitter kick on the finish leaves a lasting impression. A touch of stink on both the nose and palate; perhaps a slightly didgy bottle.
