Pours an amber orange (surprise), clear with fizzy head that doesn’t last long even as bubbles never stop streaming from the bottom of the glass. Aroma is of fresh, bitter hops reminiscent of a traditional (read: non-West-Coast) IPA. Some fruity esters in there as well. Flavor is mostly crisp hop bitterness with some pine and floral hops. Caramel malt shows up eventually. Medium body with a tingly palate. Good enough that I’d gladly drink it to support local business if Rush River were my local brewery, but not good enough to actively seek it out. In short, a competent yet unremarkable beer.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a lightly hazy, reddish amber hue. A frothy, off-white head settles quickly to a him, bubbly film. Sticky spots and drippy flares of lacing mark the glass. The aroma shows toasty caramel malt with hints of fruit and biscuit, balanced by lightly floral hops. Flavors are the same, toasty-sweet and caramelized, yet sufficiently balanced by lightly peppery citrus and grassy hops. Medium-light bodied, with lively carbonation, the palate is easy going and quaffable. Nice amber. Soonah (940), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 25, 2009 Poured a dark amber color with a moderate white to off-white head that produced some average lace. The aroma is sweet caramel, a bit of nuts and some earthy, pine hoppiness. The flavor is burnt malts, almost ashtray with some caramel sweetness. Thin mouthfeel. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Eagan, Mn. - Cellars Wines and Spirits - 12 oz bottle. Dark copper pour with an off-white head, decent lacing. The aroma presents some subtle floral notes with a bit of citrusy hoppiness to round it out. The flavor has a definite west-coast cascade, hoppy-citrusy bent to it, but not overblown. Some nuttiness and caramel comes through as well. Mouthfeel is rather thick. Finished fairly strong. Holds up well, Alopex (33), Crystal, Minnesota, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Bottle. Some citrus on the nose along with some bready yeast. Muck better than some ambers of late with just a sweet malty nose. Cloudy orange body with off white head. Flavor had some syrupy citrus oranges and yeasty bread notes. Refreshing amber thanks to the mother in law for this one.
