| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Canned sample. Medium gold in colour with strong fizzy carbonation. Aromas of sweet wildflower honey, flinty pilsner malts, and maybe a hint of butter caramel. Slightly sweet upfront on the palate, with notes of pale malt, a bit of earthy hops, and wet stones. Medium bodied for a pils, with a fair amount of bitterness. Not bad overall, but could do with a bit less sweetness on the nose, and a bit more character in the mouth. Average at best. Russell brought two beers to this festival - the Lemon and the ES Lager. The Lemon Ale tasted like lemon-meringue-margarine; so not delightful. And the Extra Special Lager was UNBELIEVABLY diacetyl. It was like a buttermilk shake. Totally undrinkable. Why would you present such a beer at a festival? OldMrCrow (1206), Seattle, Washington, USA

Clear light yellow with short-lived head but good lacing. Slightly sweet nose, a bit of hay; the flavor is clean but very mild , the hops sitting far in the background. There’s a decided flavor of
roasted peanut shells to this one and in the end it’s just to thin and hollow to really satisfy. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Pale golden colour with a thick head and lacing that hangs around until the end. Pale malt, faintly bready. The yeast has a touch of fritiness, with a pear/apple character. Hopping is light and grassy. Clean and well-balanced. Refreshing brew.
