| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 7, 2005 The biggest question of the day wasn’t "where’d they get the idea for this?", it was "since when did Russell make a brown ale?". But I digress. The appearance with kind of unique - muddy light brown with a slight purplish hue. The aroma is really indistinctive - you know there’s things in there but you don’t really know what any of them are. I mean, even the malt is really vague. The flavour is almost as muddled, with yeast and light esters, a slight hint of blackberry, and a little bit of heat at the end, but just a little. Basically to my palate, this is like adding accents to a beer without accents...but comes as off being accents without a base beer at all. Strange. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Very cloudy pink/brown beer. Light fruity aroma, fairly non-descript, a little dusty and waxy aroma as well. Flavour has a faint spicy tingle, but the components never really come together.
