Jul 28, 2009 On tap. Beer is a dark orange hue, hazy with a 1" off-white head. Aroma is light dried fruits and caramel malts. A nice blend of fruits and malts with the flavor with a slight puckering quality to it. Very easy to drink.

Jul 27, 2009 Tap at the brewpub. Copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, earth, and fruit. Flavor is malty with caramel, earth, black tea, fruity notes, and nuts. Fairly nutty on the finish. Palate medium, right on for the style. Like a slightly more flavorful version of Anchor Steam.

Jul 27, 2009 On tap at the brewpub on 6/30/09. Pours nice copper orange, with great fruit and caramel aromas, touch of vanilla. Very well balanced sweet and bitterness. Nice complex flavors meld nicely.
I’m surprised by others’ ratings as I thought this was incredibly drinkable and unique. Maybe others thought a bit too sweet?

Jul 21, 2009 On tap at Russian River. Pours a hazy light brown with a diminishing off-white head. Dry and malty. Malty bite. Hints of caramel. Medium carbonation. Dry and slightly sour malty finish with a touch of alcohol.

Jul 17, 2009 Draught at the brewpub during RBSG09. Toasty amber color, lightly hazy, with a white head. Subtle herbal hops and toasty malt aroma. The flavor is a great example of balance, with toasty and caramel malt flavors mixing with herbal hops. More hop flavor than anchor steam, but along the same lines. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. A very solid, easier drinking offering from Russian River. Like pretty much every beer they make, you can tell that a lot of thought was put into its construction.
