On tap at the brewpub. Mostly transparent, coppery amber colored body with a finger of fizzy off-white head. Aromas of lightly toasty malt and some mild-moderate minty hops. Low-moderate fruity ester qualities and a faint caraway-like spiciness in the background. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft, malty texture. Somewhat sweet, lightly toasted malt with a rye-bread flavor profile. A moderate hop presence balances the malt nicely and provides an earthy, minty flavor. Moderate fruity esters provide a subtle red fruit dimension that enhances the malt perception somewhat. Clean and pleasant to drink and showcases all of the stylistic dimensions nicely, but a bit more of an assertive hop character would be nice.

Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009 on tap at the brewery. This California Common pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet. A medium bodied California Common. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Big full mouthfeel with a softer carbonation. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

US trip Aug/Sept 2009 - On tap at RR. Nice and clean beer, didn’t notice the 40IBU. Well brewed, but why?

A reddish amber ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, a lightly nutty malt with light cinnamon notes, In mouth, a light oily and nutty ale with more of a german twist, like a good vienna. On tap at brewpub, August 17 2009.

(Draught) Pours a hazy golden body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of mustiness, leather, wet hay, light caramel, some peat, and earth. Flavor of grass, earth, tea, peat, and wet wood that somewhat reminiscent of a river stream flowing over moss covered rocks in the mountains. Good steam beer.

Generous 10 ounce sample on tap at the brewpub at RBSG. Spicy, herbal, peppery hop aroma with some light mustiness. Pretty grainy with some cereal, too. Moderately hazy amber body present with a pretty frothy off-yellowish head and nice lacing. Chewy, roasty, biscuity malt start. Lightly metallic, chewy, and a bit of herbal hop to finish. Drinkable, tasty, and good for a "steam" beer.

Clear orange with a fizzy white head. Floral malty aroma. Brassy citrus and caramel taste. Decent.
