bblack99 (72), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jul 4, 2009 Bottle from Dillon Ridge in Dillon, Colorado.
Pours a color gradient, from orangey-copper under the huge cap of infinitely-lasting white puffy head to a cloudy gold at the bottom. Strong smell of both clean piney hops and citrusy hops. Flavor is smooth and incredibly bitter at the same time, with a warming finish. Flavorful, wheaty malt makes a great base for the apricot and grapefruit citrus notes. Easy to drink for an IPA! Bockyhorsey (2355), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 4, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Summer Santa 09. Good mix of citrus and floral notes for aroma. Copper body big white head and good lacing left on glass. Dry resin grapefruit and some sweet citrus orange flavor. Cool and crisp on the palate mighty fine refreshment. Thanks BuckeyeBoy.
KAggie97 (2232), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2009 Bottle from IrishBoy. Thanks! Just found this rating hidden in my ratings book. Pours a deep, thick, lively apricot orange with a nice white head. Aroma is sweet citrus tempered by a definite sour grapefruit and semi-sweet pine resin. Hints of orange juice in there as well. Flavor is a cornucopia of grapefruits, oranges, peaches, pine, and a touch of strawberry. Thick, lingering mouthfeel that simply sticks the flavors onto the tastebuds. I will never turn one of these down. Ever. TampaBrew (302), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 3, 2009 On tap @ RR. Pours a deep gold. Tons of citrus nose. Big fruity grapefruit as well. Flavor is a nice malt, some bready notes, big grapefruit, orange, citrus zest. Amazingly balanced and finishes dry with a slightly lingering hop sweetness. Alasdair (65), New Zealand Jul 1, 2009 Thick, tangy pineapple, spice and toffee aroma. Perfectly balanced and drinkable, with resiny, sappy hop character of pineapple, apricot, and melon, with a pleasant bready malt to balance it. HomeBrewHawk (215), De Soto, Kansas, USA Jun 28, 2009 500ml bottle. Bottled on 3/26/09. Served in a shaker pint. Poured a pale gold with two fingers of white head. Citrus hop aroma. Light to medium bodied with medium amount of carbonation. Crisp hop bitterness up front. Dry hoppy finish with a good amount of mouth pucker. Very easy drinking beer. Tweety (309), Vancouver, Washington, USA Jun 27, 2009 Woohoo! Just moved to the west coast and I can’t even tell you how much of this delicious beer I’ll be drinking in the next year... elihapa (821), Honolulu, California, USA Jun 24, 2009 Bottle, $4.49. Pours cloudy orange-gold with a nice frothy head. Aroma just hits you with luxurious grapefruit-citrus. Flavor holds the citrus note – lemony, grapefruity, flowery – adding some toasted and toffee malt flavors and a hint of salt. Finishes cleanly bitter and flavorful. Flavors are surprisingly mild, however. As far as the palate of Blind Pig, it is light and clean overall, finishing dry. The head froth on Blind Pig is noteworthy. For some reason, the froth is as airy and puffy as any beer I’ve ever encountered. It is remarkable, actually, and adds tremendously to the enjoyment of this beer. This is my IPA for a hot summers day.
