astrivian (16), Colorado, USA Jun 12, 2009 One of the best IPAs. Floral hops, dry and easy on the palate. Nice bitter finish. Bottle i had was perfectly carbonated. beernbourbon (236), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 7, 2009 Thanks to ditmier for this one. Rating #500 for this beer. Pour is cloudy orange with medium white head. Some floaties in there too. Aroma is citrus hops, light caramel malt, some floral notes and notes of grass. Flavor starts with a very nice burst of citrus hops. Then the caramel malt kicks in and the hops turn to pine. The finish is both citrus and pine hops with a touch of bread. Very tasty stuff with a great citrus hop influence. HOPSHUNTER (376), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Smokepot23. Boy Russian River sure does know how to make an IPA. Poured a slightly hazy orangeish golden color with about one finger of off-white head. Aroma is soft grassy hops and pine. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The flavor is extremely balanced between sweet caramel malt and the bitter hops while still showcasing the hops. This is what I love about Russian River, their IPA’s are hoppy enough for a hop lover but so perfectly balanced. Fantastic. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Jun 3, 2009 A very solid IPA. Lots of hops on nose, tounge, aftertaste and more. Another bigtime hop guy from RR. An almost orange color, a nice fluffy off-white head. A slightly varamel sweet taste to compliment the piney-citrus hops. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2009 Bottle (500ml). Shared by tupalev with me, blankboy, garthicus and gregclow. Ah, THIS is an IPA (take notes, Beaus). Slightly hazy orange with a solid frothy lasting off-white head. Lush aroma - pungent "cat pee" (that’s a good thing) bitterness and juicy citrus malt backing - facking hell, that smells terrific. Taste of mild grapefruit pith, orange zest, quite a shifting medley of hop bitterness - only mild alcohol, overall very light and balanced, a real "drink it for hours" IPA. Fairly light body, a little acidic, mildly carbonated and not at all boozy, up front or in the tail - pungently bitter, and it takes quite a while to finish - just what a drinkin’ IPA should be. Are you paying attention, Ontario craft brewers? Wake UP!! NJJereme (261), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA May 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice golden-amber color with a light-medium sized white head. Pine and citrus become apparent immediately after pour. Surprisingly a little more sweet than I expected. Goes down nice, light-medium bodied. A nice brew. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA May 26, 2009 Pours a very light amber with nice single finger white head. Aroma is candy sweetness and funky pine hop notes. Taste is far milder than I had assumed it would be. Words almost fail me right now. This beer is perfectly balanced. Definitely not too bitter, as many IPA’s seem to be more bitter than hop flavor focused. Bitterness still accumulates the more you drink it, but that can’t really be avoided in an IPA. The hop flavors are perfectly balanced by a nice, crisp amber malt taste. Very refreshing. This is one nice IPA. I wish that I’d bought more. garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 25, 2009 Many thanks to Tupalev. Appearance: Light orange, small white head. Aroma: Super hoppy, ’weed’ like, mango skins, malt, sweet as heck, lovely. Flavour: Lovely light body, mango skins, hops, bitter, bitter goodness. Lovely.
