Clave567 (1), USA does not count Apr 21, 2009 Well balanced with a nice malt backbone. Nice slightly opake amber color. Very nice and upfront Hoppy character.Nice dry finish with a solid hop mouthfeel. This is one Awesome beer. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Apr 19, 2009 Another great hoppy beer from Russian River. Though not quite aas good as the two Pliny’s this did not disappoint at all. Poured to a hazy golden orange, with a strong citrus grapefruit hop nose and taste, a tingly, bitter mouthfeel, and a crisp long finish.
Great job RR!! BuckeyeBoy (1645), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 18, 2009 Bottle Pours out a crisp clear fold topped with a long lasting white head. Aroma of citrus hops along with a nice sweetness. Tast a nice hop on it not over the top just a good bitterness. A nice balance with the malts. A tast IPA. porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Apr 17, 2009 (500 ml bottle ("bottled on 12 008") via trade with WeeHeavySD, thanks Jon!) Pours hazy light amberish yellow with three fingers of stout, foamy off-white head. Big aroma of grapefruit, along with pine and a bit of sweat. Mouthfeel fairly smooth but lightly pebbly, medium-heft. Fairly big, foamy rings of lacing. Flavor is very hoppy, loads of grapefruit and pine and a bit sweaty. Medium-heavy bitterness overlays and carrries through into finish and aftertaste. There is a bit of malt sweetness underneath but it’s pretty faint. Pretty good but could use a little more balance, sweetness and smoothness to be up there with the really good IPAs IMO. Seems almost like a test batch for a big IPA. harbuck76 (127), El Cajon, California, USA Apr 13, 2009 bottle Hazy Orange with medium head hints of grapefruit little orange finishes nice and hoppy great IPA Moosington (28), Costa Mesa, California, USA Apr 13, 2009 Pours a nice hazy golden amber with a very thin head leaving a very minimal ring. Aroma of sweet citrus and nice malt backbone. Flavor is big hops on the outset with an awesomely bitter hop finish that sticks with you. The malt is there, but is no match for the hop profile. The palate is nice and dry with a moderately heavy mouthfeel and just the right touch of carbonation to finish. Fantastic IPA and just a notch below the Elder in my opinion. sleestak (180), Williamston, Michigan, USA Apr 11, 2009 Bottle from toncatcher. Bottled 7-2008. Pours a murky light amber with a thin, soapy head. Aroma is dominated by peach with background shortbread maltiness. Flavor is citrus hops and sweet malt with a long grassy bitterness to the finish. Low carb and viscous mouthfeel. Delicious IPA from the west-sayeeed. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Apr 10, 2009 Pint – Eastside Club Tavern – Olympia, WA
