timbeer (41), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Feb 22, 2009 Bottle shared with MatSciGuy - Deep amber/orange color that pours with a low short lived head. Big fresh citrus aroma with some floral hints. Hops follow through in the flavor - big - with citrus and mine had a bit of bracing bitterness that lasted through the finish. A dry beer that was smooth on the tough. A great IPA jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA Feb 18, 2009 Bottle: Sort of a pale golden pour with a finger of fluffy white head and lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is rich with fruity and citrus sweetness and an underly sense of pine. The hoppiness in the flavor is intense with florals and citrus, yet remains dangerously drinkable. Finishes very well, hoppy with a smooth malty sweetness working with the citrus and fruity notes. Really nice. arrogantb (694), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2009 Nice yellow color, much lighter than the Pliny I had earlier. Smells good, some of that west coast. Very hoppy flavor and only slightly bitter. Probably too easy to drink. I think Russian River will have no problem selling beer in Colorado. I will buy it all.

Nose is definitely fresh and tempting, strong citrus, resin, grapefruit and pine. Initial taste is resin citrus similar to the aroma with touch of grapefruit and sweetness. Resin hop character is delicious, a medium IPA, balancing malts are light. A very drinkable IPA for more the common palate, since my girlfriend like it, haha. Head retention and lacing is out stating with a above average palate duration. Light body. bennylava (83), California, USA Feb 16, 2009 At brewpub and in bottles. This is one bittler beer, and the hop flavor / bitterness really predominates. A slightly lesser beer compared to PtE because it is not as balanced. But if you strictly want a big pint of hops and bitterness, this is a great beer.
wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Feb 16, 2009 Clear light amber body, white head that fades, leaving lots of webby lacing on the glass. Nice crisp hop aroma, not overly sweet, herbal, gassy, dank, pineapple and lemon. Dry bitter flavor, slight sweet balance, bet lets hops dominate. Finishes clean and dry. Sonicdescent (372), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2009 Pliny’s younger brother has a pretty big shadow cast, but it manages to come out with some nice eccentricity from the king of the IPA world, Russian River. Hawaiian punch in the smell, nice tropical taste, maybe a bit over carbonated, but a damn good IPA overall. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2009 On draft at Teresa’s. Poured light orange with egg-white head. Nose of fresh grapefruits. Flavor consists of freshly sliced fruits: orange, grapefruit, even some pineapple noticeable. Probably underrated as some people try incorrectly to compare it to the Plinys. One of the best IPAs out there.
