hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Feb 9, 2009 by way of psprings cause he felt bad letting this sit around... bottled 7/22/2008. in all fairness this is going on six months old. still, fantastic though not optimal.
pours a hazy orange gold iced/ tea color with a soft white head.
lots of citrus on the nose... grapefruit, orange and pineapple blend with caramel and non resinous pine. the flavor is the same... tart pineapple (not the golden ones), tangerines, caramel/maltiness, grass, floral hops and an earthy finish which is persistently parching. very clean.
pleasant medium body with a creamy mouth feel. the malts are balanced nicely hoppy dryness and near bitterness.
it’s nice now. i can’t imagine it fresh!
7/3/7/4/16/3.7 paiste2002 (148), Saugus, California, USA Feb 6, 2009 Pours a clear golden color with a smallish white head that falls off to some nice lace. Aroma is of hops, hops and more hops, citrus and pine. Flavor is of big citrusy hops, grapefruit, pine caramel malt, bitter Finnish. Very well balanced beer. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Feb 6, 2009 Poured a clear light copper color with lots of active carbonation and a short white head. Average lacing. Nice aroma. Orange and grapefruit first followed by a hefty dose of pine. Light floral and some sweeter graham cracker as well. The flavor was pine hops, light citrus and a solid caramel malt backbone. Easy drinking with a clean finish. Good. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Feb 6, 2009 (500ml bottle) Courtesy of IrishBoy. Pours a thin, white, frothy head and an orange, sediment-filled body with no-carbonation. Nose of pineapple, green leaves, tangerines and bitter hops. Flavours of tart Seville oranges, mild amber malt, and great bitterness to hoppy, pine-cone resin finish. 8/4/8/3/15 nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 5, 2009 Updated: Sep 2, 2009Pours a hazy orange. Nice piney hop aroma with sweet malt to balance. Citrusy hops on the flavor and good malt presence. Extremely well-rounded. Medium body, dry finish. A little toned down relative to Pliny the Elder, but as they say in NorCal, hella good. Gmoney (250), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA Feb 3, 2009 bottle..clear gold pour ,white head ,good lace.aroma of caramel ,pine and grapefruit.hoppy citrus pine flavors followed by hint of sweet malt.lingering bitterness, finishes dry ,carbonation is low. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 2, 2009 courtesy of tpd975.
pours golden with white head.
Aroma of caramel, light floral hops with notes of grapefruit.
Taste is similar to the aroma.
Good balance of the hops and malts with an edge on the malty caramel side. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Feb 2, 2009 btl by BeerHawk. grapefruit and medium malt on the nose. An orange pour with gooey white head and lace. Malt and hops balance well, a nice bitter finish. A semi sweet tinge that lend to making this a very good beer. Just slightly foamy and a hint of thin. Very well balanced with a great bitter.
