dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 19, 2008 Big ups to BlackForestCO for this gem in a trade. Thanks Jake. Pours orange with fluffy, white head, dissipating quickly to film. Sweet, resiny hop nose with earthy and piny notes. Citrus and piny hop flavor with a moderat ebitter than lingers. Dry but full mouth feel, nice caramel backbone. This ipens up as it breathes. Tasty IPA. presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Nov 18, 2008 Thick white head on amber. Delicious sweet wood and grapefruit aroma. Lightly mouth drying. Citrus up front then woody notes blending back into more citrus in the finish. Solid. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 17, 2008 From bottle courtesy of dpjuart. Oddly smoky character to this one. Pine and grassy bitter notes. Very little sweetness but nice. Not as fragrant as the Pliny. Amber gold with haze topped with thin white head. Medium watery body with light to medium carbonation. Starts smooth with bitter character an a bit of malty sweetness. Finishes, however, with a big hit of grassy bitter character that is harsh and gets harsher into the after. Pretty rough bitter after, and could use a bit more malt character. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 17, 2008 decaturstevo’s 2008 Zapit Tasing Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to Beer Hawk. Clear, still yellow with a white head. Grapefruit citrus hop aroma. Body is sweet and heavy, approaching syrupy for an IPA. Tastes seems to fall somewhere between floral pine and citrus grapefruit, nice bittering finish. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Nov 15, 2008 Pours a clearish gold with some white head and floaties. Amazing hop aroma is near perfect! Can’t even describe the balance. flavor doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, but still pretty good, piney and floral. Medium thin body with good bittering but not a lingering finish. Solid mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Nov 15, 2008 bottle thanks to aplusbreaks. amber pour with a thick off white head. the hops are so fresh it’s ridiculous with citrus and esters. awesome hop flavor and actually quite smooth with no bitterness at all. very impressive ipa. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Nov 15, 2008 bottle brewed 6 weeks ago poured into a tulip glass has a nice orange ice tea color and a thick one finger white head that retained rather well and laced the glass nicely. aroma has juicy grapefruit hops, citrus peels, pine, orange zest, and underlying malts. perfumed and enticing. mouth feel is medium with biting carbonation and good coating. flavor is all about the hops, (pine, grapefruit, citrus), sweet enough to keep the bitterness down, and just enough caramel malt to keep the hops balanced. finish has a long duration of hops coating. very good and extremely fresh tasting. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 3, 2008 Thanks to Unrulythings. The aroma is very piny and citrusy with sweet malt to balance the hops. The appearance is hazy gold with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. The formula to a great IPA is simplicity in matching aroma and taste. This one does that well.
