Tap @ Horse Brass Pub... Poured orange with a white head. Delicious hops on the nose. Floral flavors and very hoppy but yet very balanced. Sweet citrus notes that created a satisfying finish.

Clear copper with a thin off white head that leaves nice lacing. Great weed and grapefruit nose with pine, lemon, orange, spice and honey. Fruity grapefruit taste with good balance. Lots of weed notes with some grapes, apples, lemons, and spice. Wow.. a truly delicious IPA.

Sampled during Surly D-Day from 22-oz bottle. Pours a semi-clear golden amber brew with an average white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film, white ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus zest and piney hop character with a hint of golden grain malt. Taste is medium bodied, some light carbonation with flavors of citrus and grassy hops, some golden grain malt, and some light caramel. Finish has a dry bitterness with some light caramel and golden grain aftertaste.

Very light amber-yellow colored pour with a big fluffy head that evaporates rapidly. Heavy citrus aroma, mainly grapefruit and a little malt. Very dry, much more so than Pliny the Elder. Nearly as good as that beer though, another huge winner.

Bottle - Bottled 9/2/08 - I was dying to try this, and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Pours a lighter than expected gold amber color. Head is fluffy while it lasts. Aroma is grapefruit all over the place. Palate is just how I like it. Crisp, fresh with nice piney, resiny hop goodness. My first RR IPA. Up next, Pliny the Elder...

Pours a very nice cloudy golden yellow color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger creamy/thick, off-white head, lots of nice thick/creamy sticky lacing follows. The nose is hoppy, very hoppy, slight touch of malts, very nice touch of citrus with some pines. The taste is slight sweet, hoppy, bitter, very nice citrus/pines. Medium body. Very drinkable, this is an awesome IPA for sure, glad I finally got a chance to try it, highly recommended. Thanks Casey.

Props to cloudskipper for sending this my way: This is one of the best IPAs I have ever had. I liked it better than Pliny for its character and drinkability. Very crisp citrus character with a pine underlay. Bitterness stings the tongue and then soothes it with a nice, round finish. A bit grassy, and malt-anemic as you’d expect from a West Coast IPA but I absolutely loved it.

Smooth and fresh. This beer is not as bold as the Pliny, but still very solid. Pine, citrus and hops came out of this bad boy. This beer is much more dry compared to the Pliny, drank this one right after the Pliny. Great overall beer.
