hallinghansen (263), Odense SV, Denmark Jul 21, 2009 Tap at RR. Hazy yellow body, with a small white head. Aroma is hops, citrus, pine and banana. Flavor is hops, grapefruit, citrus and fruit. Very good. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2009 Draft at Ron’s. Pours hazy dark straw toward copper. Nose is grapefruit and tangerine, heavy hops, malt. The taste is bitter, very hoppy and resiny, with hefty pineapple and grapefruit flavors, and black peppery hints. Smooth and crisp, with a niice complexity, this one is a hop head’s wet dream, literally and figuratively. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Jul 20, 2009 Thanks Jason! Six week old bottle. Blind Pig pours a hazy honey brown color with a smallish off white tan head. Light carbonation is visible. Aroma is not big and offers citrus, caramel, and pine. Flavor begins with a tart and bitter hop bite that is sweetened by caramel. While the hops are assertive they are also pillow soft at times. There is some nice pepper spice that shows up as the beer warms. The hops are so delightfully complex and well crafted. This is what an IPA should be! I was sorry to see the bottom of the glass. ajbitt (45), , Indiana, USA Jul 19, 2009 Aroma: citrus, gratefruit, slight pine or spruce. Apprerance: transparent, golden, medium carb, unfiltered. Flavor: Pure hops - watery start but pure hop slow finish. Lemon zest. Palate: watery, weak throughout. Overall: very subtle IPA. weak, watery, but very pure hop. Doon (89), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 19, 2009 Bottle purchased from City Beer in SF. Pours a golden bronze color witha nice head and great lacing. The aroma is hoppy, but also somewhat mellow. Just a hint of the alcohol, but not near as strong smelling as other IPA’s. Tangy light citrus flavor. More of a "lighter" IPA mouthfeel. A nice overall IPA tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jul 18, 2009 Bottle, generously shared by NachlamSie. Pours orange with long-lasting light beige head. The aroma is nice, dank, herbal hops with a strong tangerine and lemon verbena note. The flavor is smooth, but assertive hops. Tangerine, pine, assorted herbs, and an excellent level of bitterness. There’s a little bit of honey and toast behind it for some balance. The finish is fruity and hoppy and tasty. Great beer. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Jul 18, 2009 Bottled on June 9, 2009. Split with Tronraner. Pours a hazy bright orange with a delightful head. I love IPA’s that look like this. Damn, this is hoppy. Very fresh stanky hops. Lots of grapefruit, sticky herbs, very little malt going on. The mouthfeel is dry and sticky in a sublime way. Lots of herbal bitterness, grapefruit, assorted citrus, wood, pineapple. This is one serious IPA that is all about the hops. I’m really glad I got a fresh sample this time. mesperon (133), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Jul 18, 2009 Dark amber with fluffy white head. Extremey herby/woodsy and slightly fruity hoppy aroma. Nice bitter hop bite with overwhelming hop flavor. Tastes just like PLiny the Elder with a bite.
