| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and floral hops are clearly dominating with some notes of bitter hops are also clearly identifiable. Taste is also dominated by a complex and well built hop profile which provide a very good and complex mix between some citrus and bitter notes. Malt profile is kept very low in the mix but can still be felt. Full body with great carbonation. Quite a handful though and not your typical session IPA. badlizard (2396), Berkeley, California, USA

It’s bitter and hoppy with notes of citrus and pine, and a very slight underlying sweet malt note. Medium bodied, smooth and a touch dry. Definately a beer I will be drinking more of. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 29, 2008 Bottle, barely two weeks old. Pours a very lightly hazy orange-amber color. A frothy, off-white head settles to a thin, asymmetrical, bubbly layer. Sticky lacing coats the glass in an organic honeycomb pattern. The aroma shows fresh, juicy orange and grapefruit, hints of apricot, bitter, grassy hops, and a lightly toasty toffee malt background. The flavor packages those same elements into an ultra-clean, refreshing package. The citrus asserts itself a bit more, with big-time grapefruit and a touch of lemongrass shutting out any hints of apricot that the nose foreshadowed. The toffee malt imparts just the right amount of sweetness, without getting in the way of the hops or muddling things up. Medium-full bodied and moderately carbonated, the finish is on the dry side and very clean, lending supreme drinkability. This is definitely an "everyday" cousin of Pliny the Elder. Another damn fine beer from Russian River. drewbeerme (2315), Chicago, Illinois, USA
