Soft pine and grapefruit zest aromas ride a light foundation of toasty malt throughout. Bright bitter citric-pine flavors round with a touch of back end sweet malt. Has a light Pliny tone to it. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, moderately bitter finish. A very nice session IPA… fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

The aroma is nice, dank, herbal hops with a strong tangerine and lemon verbena note. The flavor is smooth, but assertive hops. Tangerine, pine, assorted herbs, and an excellent level of bitterness. There’s a little bit of honey and toast behind it for some balance. The finish is fruity and hoppy and tasty. Great beer. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Ligher amber body than the IIPA, as well as a less assertive aroma. Still, this didn’t mean much. Huge piney citrusy aroma. I really strugged to detect where the hops were from for some reason... no idea. This IPA was different from a lot I’ve had from Cali. Still really hoppy and bitter and I thought it was well balanced as well. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

The flavor is somewhat bitter with some lemons, oranges, and a hint of pine. The aftertaste is bitter as well. The palate is a bit thin but overall this is a nice IPA if not a complex one. Slightly hazy gold pour, fluffy white head and excellent lace. Citrusy/ piney hop aroma. Clean, chewy, and resinous mouth-feel. Light bodied and quite refreshing. Loads of citrusy hop flavor. Bitter & dry finish. Lingering flavor of nectarine. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Clear golen orange with a white head. AMAZING nose - a hop festival! Mild malts barely standing behind a wall of hop scents - grassy, orange citrus, herbal... just WOW. Dry floral flavors, grassy with light caramel. Somehow, the flavor never delivers on the promises of the fantastic nose. Still, a really good IPA.
