Rerate, bottle 11-19-08. Same awesome nose. Flavor is much nicer, floral, bitter, and awesome. Absolutely a top IPA. Dug it much more fresh, naturally. BOLTZ7555 (1107), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Bronze in color with a hint of sunset. Smaller cotton head that leaves a bit of spotty lacing. All that a IPA should be...bitter but not overly so. Aroma and flavor of grapefruit rind, orange peel, and tropical fruit. Ponderosa pine notes also come through in the finish. Can’t wait till they bottle this. ditmier (1105), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2009 2009 Bottle - 1 month old, pours a semi-hazy golden with a large, lasting off-white head...aroma is big and bright, frest citrus, grass, peach, pine tar...flavour is similar, nice variance of bitters, I was actually expecting a few more IBU’s given the hype, but it is good, very dry finish...I think more malt without going the DIPA route would have made me happier, still delicious.... | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 17, 2008 16.9 oz bottle. Bottled on 7-22-08. Poured a nice dark gold, white head. Smells wonderful, huge pine notes, a little citrus as well, glorious. Great hoppiness all over the place, it’s a tongue wagger. Great beer. pineypower (1104), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2008 On tap at Capone’s. Pours out a nice mostly clear golden color with a small to moderate white lacing head. Aroma is intense and of grapefruit and pine hops, very nice. Good sticky mouthfeel. Taste is complex and an assault of hops, grass, pine, and citrus all come together perfectly with a slight malt balance, but nothing to take away from the hops. Once again a world-class beer from Russian River. Sickboy282 (1100), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Having old friends remember the original, I was very excited to finally try the mother of the pliney. But to my dismay, it didn’t hold up, but 10 years ago, this would have been nice. Pours a clean orange/yellow hue with aromas of pine, and citrus. Flavors of the same with a nice bitterness. For being 6%, this does make a nice session brew. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2008 17 oz bottle via Liquid SOl. Pours a clear amber with a massive beige head. The nose is nice and i note some pine and some orange. Taste is pure hoppiness with some orange, grapefruit and pine as well as a little earthiness. The pine/grapefruit carries though and lingers well into the aftertaste for a long long time. Nice. The body is medium, carbonation is perfect. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
