Pours out a coppery color with a nice beige head. aroma is floral and big on hops as should be expected. flavor is bitter, citrusy and a nice resin finish that i have come to love in IPAs. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2008 17 oz bottle via Liquid SOl. Pours a clear amber with a massive beige head. The nose is nice and i note some pine and some orange. Taste is pure hoppiness with some orange, grapefruit and pine as well as a little earthiness. The pine/grapefruit carries though and lingers well into the aftertaste for a long long time. Nice. The body is medium, carbonation is perfect. Sickboy282 (1101), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Having old friends remember the original, I was very excited to finally try the mother of the pliney. But to my dismay, it didn’t hold up, but 10 years ago, this would have been nice. Pours a clean orange/yellow hue with aromas of pine, and citrus. Flavors of the same with a nice bitterness. For being 6%, this does make a nice session brew. Reid (1093), Salem, Oregon, USA

Slightly murky orange/brown beer..great off white frothy creamy heid.
Nice fresh aromas of piney/spruce like hops..some lemon and honey in the back.
Good juicy hops, freshly squeezed or so it feels. Fresh grassy, grapefruit, brown sugar, toasted. Really nice and fresh..you should have this for breakfast!
Great palate too..very well done.
Overall a great IPA AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA

Big citrus nose and lots of hops in the flavor. Smooooooth bitterness. MullMan (1087), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2007 on tap at the Toronado on 1/15/07. clear golden color, creamy off-white head. aroma is pine resin, sweat, and urine. flavor is very strong pine hops - resiny. bitterness is strong, but not an attack somehow - the finish fades. csbosox (1085), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

500ml bottle, dated 09/30/08. Aroma of honey, pine, citrus (tangerine), and resin. Smells great. Golden orange color with a slight haze and a wispy head. Steady carbonation. Lots of aggressive, resiny, piney hops right off the bat give way to more of the same along with honey and citrus. Hops sting into the finish. A west coast IPA, to be certain, but I long for some of the gentle hops flavor of its lightly big brother PtE. chicagodri (1077), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Great hoppy aroma of grapefruit and pine. A little more balanced than Pliny the Elder (although I like Elder better). Solid IPA though, very enjoyable.
