Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Great hoppy aroma of grapefruit and pine. A little more balanced than Pliny the Elder (although I like Elder better). Solid IPA though, very enjoyable.

Too cool, I’m live on line@O’Brien’s rating a pint of Blind Pig: Lightly hazy golden amber color with a small (bar pour) white head. Sweet pineapple citrus nose. Flavor starts fruity sweet turning grapefruit bitter with a long dry grapefruit rind finish. Medium bodied, smooth and dry with moderate carbonation.

Growler courtesy tpd975. Pours a clear deep golden with a one finger white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of citrus and a touch of pine hops with notes of sweet malt and a hint of caramel. Taste is the same as aroma with the pine being more prominent. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness. Another tasty brew from Russian River.

Location: .5 liter bottle via trade from NickD717, 8/28/09

Aroma: Pine, citrus hops, fresh and juicy hops, grapefruit
Appearance: Clear golden-orange color, fluffy white head, nice amount of lacing
Flavor: Nice (not huge, but well done) hop profile - juicy grapefruit/citrus and pine hops, medium sweet with a long finish
Palate: Medium to full body, semi-dry, fresh, crisp, drinks really nicely
Overall Impression: Thanks, Nick! This beer is darn tasty. My first Russian River beer, and now I’m really looking forward to the Pliny you sent me. I figured I would drink it first from this trade as the label repeatedly warned me not to age it. Figured I would follow instructions just in case the folks at RR are watching me big brother style. (If you are watching me, I’m sorry, it must be boring to watch me drink this beer and watch preseason football.) All kidding aside, this is a seriously solid, well-made beer.

In the biggest surprise of the year, I finally able to score some RR Blind Pig and Pliney the Elder off Liquid Solutions! Light caramel-orange color with a light off white head. BIG pine aroma followed up with citrus hops and a touch of tropical fruit. The flavor is immediately fruity. Tons of tropical citrus fruits are right there to greet you and continue all the way through. Along the way, plenty of pine pokes its head up to say hello. And finally an earthy finish rounds it all out. This is definitely an exploration of hops. Not real malt to speak of other than the fact that there is enough to allow the hops to shine with out being abrasive. Semi-dry, light-medium body. YUM!

Very light amber-yellow colored pour with a big fluffy head that evaporates rapidly. Heavy citrus aroma, mainly grapefruit and a little malt. Very dry, much more so than Pliny the Elder. Nearly as good as that beer though, another huge winner.

Golden orange with color with a thin white head. Impressive nose of citrus, hops, and grass. Well-balanced flavor of grapefruit, hops, grass. Not an excessive hoppy bite. Very enjoyable!
