| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2008 500 ml bottle. Pours goden yellow with a frothy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is pretty subdued (esp after Pliny). There are some sweet sugary malts and a little melon and some peppery hops.
The flavor is some sweet malt and fruits with a kind of abrasive charcoal hop bitterness in the finish that has a good amount of bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, I didn’t really care for the hop flavor profile. I was surprised considering how much I liked the Pliny (which was much more balanced). Given the same price, I would take the Pliny over this any day of the week. puggy211 (596), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Poured amber witha big white head. Aroma of hops, pine and citrus. Taste is of piney resinous hops, with a little citrus and caramel. Quite a bit different from their other IPA/IIPA’s. Finishes bitter. Mouth is a moderately bodied. A nice IPA.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Pours a golden color, with minute particles that make it cloudy - a thin foamy white head. Aroma is amazing - pineapple juice, grapefruit, and a bit of syrupy malt characteristics. The taste is very smooth (minor carbonation). Taste is a bit of orange pith, some citrus, with a bitter finish. Very good, but nothing revolutionary to me. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 8, 2008 From growler shipped to me (6 days old when opened): Golden in color with a touch of amber. This still poured a great 3/4" head that dissipated slowly. The nose was filled with grapefruit, Rouquefort cheese and a touch of anise. In the mouth it had medium density, a smooth texture and was wonderfully balanced. The hops are very well balanced by some malt that leads to a beer with a bitterness/dryness but also a touch of sweetness. The malt is more noticable than the "Pliny the Elder" and keeps this beer a touch sweeter. Overall, this is a really well made beer with terrific balance that is easy to drink. tokyogoat (576), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 7, 2009 Smells like hops, pine, citrus, and heaven.
Looks medium/dark golden.
Head is fluffy and falls fast leaving behind substantial lacing.
Tastes like a DIPA. Tons of bitter hops, pine, sour citrus, the bitterness sticks to your lips. I’ve actually never had an IPA with this aggressive of flavors.
Perfect levels of carbonation.
I’m so in love with beer I’d let that blind pig on the label sodomize me with his white cane. I know he’d never call me again, and it wouldn’t matter. I would have gotten what I wanted, his light juicy goodness. Mmmm Miver (575), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2009 Draft. Poured golden orange in color with a medium fluffy white head that left fantastic thick sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, sweet fruit. Nice body... Taste is resiny, with piney hops, grapefruit, caramel. I could drink this all the time. Fantastic. Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Pours a light orange color with a large foamy off white head. Nose is definitely fresh and tempting, strong citrus, resin, grapefruit and pine. Initial taste is resin citrus similar to the aroma with touch of grapefruit and sweetness. Resin hop character is delicious, a medium IPA, balancing malts are light. A very drinkable IPA for more the common palate, since my girlfriend like it, haha. Head retention and lacing is out stating with a above average palate duration. Light body. phaleslu (557), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2009 500th rating, and it’s a good one. Bottle from South Bay Drugs. Pours a clear orange-gold color with some haze and a white head. The aroma is perfect for an IPA. I could smell this all day. "Pine and pot," as described by one guy smelling it, the aroma has spectacular floral notes, citrus, pineapple, pine hops, caramel malt- wow. Pine, citrus, hops, and malt all show up in the flavor as well, which has a nice bitter bite to it along with some fruit and caramel sweetness. Light-medium bodied, so easy to drink, and refreshing any time of year. Get one of these fresh and enjoy.
