Golden-orange pour with a full, white head. beautiful, big hop aroma with citrus and pine in the foretaste. Finishes sweeter than the Russian River IPA. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 23, 2008 On-tap at Toronado 2/17/08. Pours a honey yellow color, frothy white head, some lace. Smells grassy hoppy, I didn’t think it was all that complex but I could be wrong. Tastes grassy, hoppy bitter. A bit resiny. Mouthfeel is thin, carbonation is somewhat subdued. Not as good as the Pliny’s but a good consolation prize. bennylava (84), California, USA

This is one bittler beer, and the hop flavor / bitterness really predominates. A slightly lesser beer compared to PtE because it is not as balanced. But if you strictly want a big pint of hops and bitterness, this is a great beer.

Basically a good beer but no Alesmith IPA... thanks E.****Update***bottle from josh... Nice IPA.. Grassy, fruity, citrus, all the typical west coast traits... GJF (507), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA

This is tough competition at this brewery! Poured from the bottle (bottled 7/9/08) to a tulip. Nice hazy orange with a sticky white head. Good retention. Some floral aromas along with some orange and grapefruit.
Great hop bite right up front. Mellows with a wonderful fruity hop lingering bitterness. Ths one is chewy and delicious. It has that extra je ne sais quois that most ipa’s lack. Might be the sticky, oily, fruity hop flavor that does not just make it a hip bomb, but also gives it some balance. It is not just bitter, but full of flavor as well. Wonderful beer. Taste of pineapple, with a big piny dry finish. Thin mouth feel but thick enough to feel pleasant as it roles around the tongue. Great beer!
