DLD guest tap: Glowing deep golden hue with a lasting frothy white head and left excellent lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of plum, tangerine, spicy white wine (Gewurtztraminer?), grass, wild yeast funk, some clean oak, and dusty yeast esters.

Starts with and mostly ends with a dry acidic tartness, sour fruits and funked up yeast all over the place. YEP, it is a Russian River beer alright! Some light biscuity pale malt and wood as well with a touch of white pepper to round out the palate. The mouth feel is highly refreshing and sprite. Outstanding offering and something I wish I had a bottle of the enjoy in the future. Every bit the equal of the Supplication IMO!

I’ve had this at the Toronado and the Stone Sour fest on tap. Golden, small head, funky fruit aroma. Lemony, some sweetness, refreshing in its tartness, slight oak and chardonay notes. Funky but lovely; one of my favorites from RR.

Growler. Beer muled by Ali. Hazy golden/pale body with a medium sized, creamy white head. Funky, bretty nose with lactic acid, light acetic acid, dusty yeast. lots of cherry and peach. The flavor is moderately sour, lightly sweet with lots of peach, apple, some cherry, lactic and acetic acids, yogurt, melon and citrus. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation. Finish is long with a lasting acidity. Awesome.

I was out visiting my sister in California, and was happy to see that this was on at the brewpub in Santa Rosa. Had a nice golden color, much like temptation with a white head, light carbonation. The aroma was awesome, very sour with vinous and oaken notes, also very fruity. The flavors were really great, like an unripened apricot mixed with oak and white wine. I really enjoyed this beer a lot, its too bad the bottled batch didn’t make it to market.

Tried on tap at Stone brewery. A great beer, but looks like p. Nice sour nose of lemon, orange? Reminds me exactly of the smell of eating sour cherries at my grandmothers house in Maryland. Exactly. Pale yellow color. Mellow mild flavor. What aspecial treat. First rating: 9,2,9,3,18:4.1. Second taste at sour fest: 7,2.5,7.5,3,16.5:3.7. Third taste by patanap: 4.6

Another review from DLD 2008: I was really looking forward to trying this, it was my first Russian River brew and I almost missed the opportunity thanks to the general chaos that is Dark Lord Day... but a stranger pointed us in the right direction, so I am grateful for that. =) This beer has a huge sour fruit aroma and taste... I don’t know exactly how a pluot tastes or smells and how it works into a beer like this, but this really stands out among other sour ales I’ve had. Has a vinegary aroma & taste... very sour, lots of citrus. Russian River now tops my list of breweries to explore, this was awesome.

This is my new favorite RR Sour. The others are complex and subtle with slight influences that you have to search for and wait as they develop. This one kicks you in the teeth like an explosion of flavor. No subtlety about it! First on the tip of your tongue, than the roof of your mouth, and finally the back of your tongue and throat. Like chewing a sweet tart, the flavors mix wonderfully of sour grapefruit and a Granny Smith like apple to sweet apricots and plums that carry to the finish. A warning, DO NOT try the Beatification immediately after this one. Like going from a hot tub to a cold shower. Trust me, I learned the hard way.
