Reminiscent of a strong Flanders red/brown with a deep, fruity flavor and a tiny bit of heat on the backend. Probably my favorite of the night and definitely another stellar RR sour. Good show. dkachur (2358), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Well, I untwisted the cage once, and about 20 minutes later it decided to open itself. Wow. Pours a dark copper color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is deep, rich currant notes with toffee and mild funk. Some citrus, banana, pear and other fruit notes. Taste is tart currants, cranberries, citrus zest, oak. Nice dry, tart funk. Very faint caramel and vanilla in there also. Full bodied. Nice and smooth. Naven (871), Poway, California, USA

Way, way way better than I expected. Had this side by side with Duck Duck Gooze and this one blew it out of the water. Dark, rich, color with lots of cherry and berry aroma. Very tart, but still somewhat balanced and easy to drink. Leave it to Russian River to make a beer I like in a style I hate. mkunz (18), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Batch 2 on tap. Aroma was sweet caramel, tart cherry, and raison. very pleasent. Color was deep red/brown/purple. Taste was sweet at first and then moved to tart and dry. Tasted of sour cherries, berries, oak, citrus, a bit of vanilla maybe? Very well balanced, great beer. scrizzz (1267), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2009 Chestnut brown, small thin white head, gentle aroma of sour oak, seems deceptive. Abrasive dry wood, bright tart fruit, firm welcomed tannins on my tongue. Artistic even, I really could drink a glass of this like it was lemonade or enjoy a snifter for an hour. vtafro (469), , New Jersey, USA

Tart cherries fill the nose with an oak subtlety. Not my favorite sour but still very nice. Flavor ends tart with a lasting aftertaste. Well done sour. Hank1980 (744), Athens, Georgia, USA

Aroma of tart fruit (would have guessed cherry, if label didn’t say currant), oak, brett. Taste is tart, oaky fruit, with some spice. Tannins make this seem vinous, except the funk would be terrible in wine. Very enjoyable and unique brew. Mouth is light and smooth. Low carbonation. Overall, another solid RR brew. Very nice.
