Pours hazy coppery brown with nose is oaky chery, earthy malt, spicy yeast, and root cellary cobwebby figgy esters. Tastes tart, full bodied and complex, with the sour cherry, Bretty funk, oaky and red wine grapey flavors hitting the palate at first, then the tartness rounds out late to give a more cognacy and caramelly flavor. Wonderfully complex, this one is outstanding. angrypirate06 (709), Texas, USA

The aroma is tart sour fruits and musty yeast. Some sweet vinous fruits come out as it warms.
The flavor is big mouth puckering tart and sour fruits, some wood, with a musty yeast finish. It’s a bit acidic. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low yet sharp carbonation.
Overall, a pretty one-dimensional sour, but boy does it do the sour well. This is right up there with La Folie for my favorite sour. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Bottle at City Beer, San Francisco, 28th March 09. Lovely dark ruby colour. Nose and flavour are both all about the rich sour fruit flavours. The sourness is prominent but kept in check and lets the fruit express itself - lots of grape flavours. The alcohol is hidden well and overall this is a dry and very tasty beer indeed. A pleasure to drink. BMan1113VR (2822), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA

Pours with a small, off-white head over a hazed amber body. Aroma is sour and slightly sweet with notes of currants, plums, wood, alcohol and toffee. Taste is a sharp citrus sour followed by a slight sweetness from the currants and a rich caramel quality. Lively carbonation, very easy to drink. Have since had (001X4), which was a bit more subdued in its sourness. Have some batch 002 waiting... adrian910ss (1420), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
