March Houston Tasting. Thanks to Kaggie. Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Small bubbles. Nose of brown sugar, plum, wine and cherries. Flavor is currents, funk, wood, and sour. Fizzy mouthfeel.

I’ll rerate when I open my own bottle, but for now: Lots of wine and cherry. Oak. Honey. Not overtly sour, but rather very mellow and nice. Wonderful beer.

Tap at Capones. Pours a nice violet deep dark woody almost brown- mostly clear- bottle is mostly hazy thicker and brighter fruity red. Overall- I like the draft maybe a touch better due to its raw powerful sourness whereas the bottle is more big fruit straightforward. Tap aroma of sharp tart sour cherry, woody, grape skin, slight vegetal- cassis- and light jamminess with sour notes all around. Flavor is vinous, grape skin , tannin, astringent, sour cherry pit, very sour cherry- tart red cassis, light herbal vegetal tomato but much less so than any other currant beer- funky and quite sharp acidity and sour in the end. Awesome stuff. I loved both bottle and tap, but they were both light night and day.

bottle thanks to KAggie. pours a dark brown with an off-white head. Nose of perfume and oak. Taste is of vinous fruit. Mouthfeel was very sour.

This is a great beer I had this on draft at the Russian River pub in Santa Rosa. Dark in appearance. Pours a dark brownish red color with a slight acidic nose . Taste is cherry tang on oak not cuvee sour but just enough to give this beer that awesome winesque. Something that Vinnie does better than everyone else! This beer takes a couple sips to get use to but it’s really hard to put down after a couple sips.

On tap at Capone’s. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of sweettart candies, oaky notes, and lots of sweet notes. Flavor is very tart and acidic with Brett, light pale malts, a touch of yogurt, and wine-like notes (red grapes). Very flavorful but the palate is a bit wearing over time. Not my favorite type of sour but this was quite good. 9/4/8/3/15 (3.9/5)

750 shared at the Houston funk/sour/lambic/gueze tasting. Weird thing: we had 4 bottles of this brought to the tasting-great minds drink alike. This one thanks to kaggie97. Filtered dark brown. Nose is very tangy, strong fruity flavors. Taste comes off sweet, fruity, very fizzy/carbonated then punchy. Not sure what to think about this one. Next time we’ll try this earlier in the rotation. But I like.....

On tap @ Capones. Poured ruby red with small white head. Aroma is very tart with some fruits, oak and some wine characteristics. taste is tart, dark fruits, oak, and tangy. Easy to drink and enjoyable.
