Aroma of funk, sourness, barnyard and some fruity red wine. Flavor is sour and vinegar with some caramel and fruit. I have to rate this high, I can see how well its done...but it is still not my cup of tea. PhillyBeer2112 (2086), Orange Park, Florida, USA

Pecan pie too? Seriously sour, with alot of fruit to go with it: raisins, figs. Sweet sweet acid. hopscotch (5476), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

This beer rocks!… Deep, dark, ruby ale with little to no head. Fruity, acidic aroma of berries, tobacco, wood and red wine. Full-bodied and very effervescent. The flavor is fruity, caramely and fairly sour. The lengthy finish is tart, mildly bitter, and then dry. Kudos to after4ever for providing this bottle of world class beer! | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Absolutely perfect beer. This is the highest score I give and it is well deserved. Thanks, Chewy.Aroma was strong oak, vinegar and funk. Pour was a beautiful dark murky brown/dark ruby with a big bubbly near tan head. Taste was nice and near mouth puckering sour. Dark fruit, oak and vinegar with a biting sour aftertaste round this beer out. Great carbonation with an underlying funkiness that comes up through the nostrils. Outstanding! illidurit (876), Santa Cruz, California, USA

Root beer color with a deep amber tinge. Dark but mostly clear. Nice beige head fizzles out due to the acidity. Aroma is sour raisins and currants with a striking cabernet character that blends into the overall profile better than any other wine barrel-aged beer I’ve had. A brown sugar note emerges once my nose acclimates to the acidity of the aroma. Maybe even a little bourbon and light alcohol too. Very complex smell. Flavors of jammy wine, berries, raisins, oak, vinegar, brown sugar, and a bunch more I can’t even articulate. Definitely improves as it warms up. Ridiculous complexity all around. Mouthfeel is rich and well carbonated with delicate bubbles. A joy to drink. RR just can’t miss. Beautiful color, and a voluptuous aroma. Substantial carbonation delivers an exquisite palate of dark fruits with a kick of brettanomyces. Not quite the Virgin Mary of it’s style, but certainly a must have for any sour ale enthusiast.
