Aromas of funk, heavy pale malts, lemon, currents, and wood. Great contrasts of refreshing lemon and barnyard funk (along with some moderate acidic cabernet notes) against the vanilla and pale malt strength. Medium bodied. Not quite as quaffable as other Russian River sours, but just as amazing. A triumph! nuplastikk (1183), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 14, 2009 750ml bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar at the DC Local Gathering. Amber-brown color, perhaps filtered. Minimal lacy head, though solidly carbonated. Big sour aroma with a touch of caramel. WOW! Perfect sour oaky taste. Wild yeast works itself solidly into the beer, never seeming excessive or offensive. Perfect mouthfeel, one of the better new-school Brett beers I’ve had. The currants give it a citrusy niceness as well. Top notch world class beer. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2009 nose of malts, brett, wood, and red wine coming off a mahogany colored body with a cream colored head, which faded fast. flavors of wood and port wine, backed up by toasted malts balanced against the sour/funk/brett..the tartness really came through in the tail, and i thought this was infinitely more drinkable than Temptation nimbleprop (847), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA

Pours a copper, ruby amber with a soft beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, wood, funk, sweet tarts. Flavor is great, red grapes, sweet tarts, candy, lemons, cherries, wood. Finish is chalky, bitter and funky. Super drinkable. The bottle version had more/better carbonation than the pub version. boamr (136), Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2009 Thanks Rencelas! Pour is reddish brown with a thick tan head that dissipates slowly. Very active carbonation. Vinegar and fruit in the aroma. Flavor is the same with soy sauce coming late in the sip. Lots of funky cherry sourness. Warming brought out the wood flavor along with tannin. This is definitely a favored style of mine but this sour ale is full of interesting flavors. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA
