Commercial Description:
We turned our regular Damnation recipe into a Tripel. It is bittered with Tomahawk and has Sterling and Cascade in the mid-boil and finish. The beer was then aged on new American oak chips for two to three weeks.

FRO throwdown: Light wheat and hay, some barn loft. There’s a touch of orange and clove. Herbal. I didn’t like this much. Maybe its because I’m liking the clove phenol less and less.

Sample at O-town throwdown ’09 courtesy of fogdog. pours hazy golden. Taste of some dark fruits, malty banana, peach, apricot. Belgian yeast presence, with light and pleasant wood oak palate. Solid brew.

On tap at O’Brien’s Russian River night. Pours a clear dark gold with a white ring. Sweet aroma, of malt, sugar, and dark fruits. Taste is rich and sweet, a bit herbal, with malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, and wood. Lingering rich sweetness. Very tasty.

Bottle. A rich golden color with a big foamy white head. The aroma has definite oak chips (wood) on the otherwise nice Belgian tripel base (lemon, banana and cloves). Dry, candy sugars, spiced, and light fruits in the flavor.

On tap at brewery. This beer was damn good. Like the regular damnation but strong oak and a still surprisingly hoppy taste.

Bottle from O’Brien’s: Created a firm layer of fluffy head which eventually retreated into an O shaped ring. Dense color of golden liquid with a slight murky appearance. Aroma detected was a strong strain of Belgian yeast and spices which ultimately satisfied the nose. Flavor was strong with the usual suspects accompanied with Belgian yeast but an ever present background of wood chips, tart cherries and perhaps a chardonnay wine finished with an interesting taste compared to the original version.
