| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2009 Pours a lovely clear golden yellow with foamy white head. Smells like clove, light sweet malts. The flavor is similar, with light caramel flavors like lightly toasted marshmallows, clove, and a bit of hop balance. The mouthfeel is moderate. Overall, a very enjoyable beer. yemenmocha (421), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 16, 2009 Pours luminous gold with slight haze, with generous off-white head that leaves a silky thin lace on the glass. Nose is reminiscent of a good tripel with light fruits, especially apple. On the palate the tripel resemblance emerges again, with soft malt, light fruits again, and a semi-tart and dry finish. malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 5, 2009 05/04/2009. 750ml bottle from beerstore. Way way way too much clove to be a serious Belgian. Taken as an American imposter it ain’t bad... drinkable but it does taste like 9% or more and it sure does lack subtlety and character beyond ’cheap Belgian strong ale’. If these guys have made 46+ batches it makes me realise just how good the first Emerson’s JP was. Respect to the Old Dick!
