Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Poured golden and slightly hazy with a small white head. Nothing real special about the aroma. I smelled mostly honey and some fruityness, maybe peaches. Flavor was slightly fruity with a nice backbone of hops and yeast. Very drinkable, but has a dry finish.

Slightly hazy golden blonde coloured body with orange highlights and a nice white head. Aroma of curacao, wheat, coriander seed, grass and a small fresh hoppiness. Medium to Light-bodied; Mild wheat taste with a short yeast flavour showing a bit of curacao and a tiny bit of the coriander seed freshness. Honey finishes the flavour of the beer. Overall, looks and smells like a belgian tripel - but the taste makes it seem more of a singel. Great to try (this is the first Russian River in Washington), but not a great beer. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna Virginia on 09-July-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Pours a deep gold with a fairly large fluffy white head and depending on which half of the bottle you’re drinking, it could be cloudy with particles. Aroma is definitely ripe with pepper, leafy, floral, with a bit of lime, honey, and chardonnay (I guess grapes and oak?). Pungent earthy flavors, hay, dirty, old citrus, pepper, grass, honey, and finishes appropriately bitter with lots of pepper, grass, and a slight floral element. Lively carbonation, never annoying, medium bodied and creamy feeling. Pretty expected for the style, but it’s got enough complexity to keep me interested.

Basic and boring golden ale. Thin, flat. Good honeyed hops. A bit sour. Some hefeweizen-like wheaty flavors.

bottle) Clear shining orange-gold body with small white head. Aroma is very yeasty, sweet with grass, and fruit. Flavor is sweet with honey, fruit, moderate alcohol and very slight bitterness in the finish. Soft, full-bodied.

Thanks to kegbear for the bottle!
Transparent gold with a puffy white head, bubbles galore. Tangy, hoppy nose, with yeast and fruit, spicy. Flavor is very mellow, so un-aggressive that I’m probably missing a lot: malt, lemon, banana, The mouth is present yet soft with a perfect finish, like a kiss of milk atop dry, fluffy bread crust. I really dig this stuff.

Tap @ Belmont Station... Poured clear, golden with a white head. Aroma was faint with zesty esters and spices. Nice foamy palate with spicy ester flavors and malt. Some hops too but they were way in the background. Just a simple Belgian but it definitely did the style justice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden body with lots of cloudy yeasts. I tried very hard to let it settle in the fridge. The pure white head was tight and fluffy and had great retention but left little lacing on the glass. The smell was mostly sweet and full of bananas, bready yeast and some dry grass. I expected a harsh carbonation note on the tongue based on the head, but it felt smooth and sweet on my pallate. Flavors were consistent with the smell with more banana, soft yeasty bread, just a hint of alcohol and undertones of other sweet fruit. I think apples, pears and maybe some tart kiwi. Very enjoyable.
