Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Golden in color with a thick, foamy cream colored head. Aroma is heavy in spices and also has notes of yeast apple, and orange peel. Flavor is of banana, bubble gum, spices, grains and yeast.

Very pale pour. Nose is bubblegum and melon, cantaloupe. Flavor is bubble gum, clove, grains of paradise. The mouth is protenious but not overly foamy. Great Belgian with a bitter finish.

Batch 39. Excited! Pale gold, sweet candied sugar. Sweet crystalline beginnings, foggy yeast encapsulates everything including the cedar notes of the hops. Lemon character too.

My first draught pick at the famous Toronado on Haight st. in San Francisco, July 2008. Pours golden, hazy with an aromatic, stubborn head. This thing has a wonderfully big aroma: grassy, citric with lemon, pear, spices. I taste apple, pear, pepper with a slightly bitter finish. Toronado atmosphere only adds to an already fantastic experience.

On tap. Pours a blonde color with little head. Sweet fruit with mild hoppiness. Slightly bitter aftertaste and pleasant mouthfeel. Not my favorite style but a nice ale.

Very nice beer. Pours a watery pale color, with an aroma akin to apple cider. Flavor is slightly sour and bitter, texture of applejuice, with some notes of apple, bananas, straw, and clove. Slightly tart and dry, but doesn’t dry out the mouth. I wish this one was just a bit stronger. Not one I’d want to drink all of the time, but a very solid brew.

Draugh - Toronado. Pours amber with a white head, powerful pungent aromas giving way to sweetness. Nice and dry, with amost imperceptible sourness. Bananas, cloves, fruits and hopsl. Great stuff.
