Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Editor’s Note: this entry is for all batches EXCEPT batches 23 and 46 <a href=/beer/russian-river-damnation-batch-23-(oak-aged)/74510/>see separate entry.

Draugh - Toronado. Pours amber with a white head, powerful pungent aromas giving way to sweetness. Nice and dry, with amost imperceptible sourness. Bananas, cloves, fruits and hopsl. Great stuff.

Bomber. Bright, clear copper color with a foamy white head. Slighty sour nose with some yeast. The flavor melds hops, caramel, and a little yeast. Finishes quite sour, but clean and sharp. Tastes like a well made, standard blonde ale with a nice finish, except somehow it’s almost twice as strong. Iiiiiiinteresting.

750 ml bottle batch 39 from Pike Street in Seattle. Beautiful deep amber color with Belgian yeast aroma and persistant thin white head all thw way to the end. The grapefruitiness only slightly overtakes the rest of the wonderful flavors. Extremely drinkable. Could use a bit of aging. Had one on tap last week at Falling Rock in Denver, where it came off perfectly balanced and seemed much more fragrant.

750 ml bottle corked and caged batch 30. Poured into a Duvel tulip glass the beer produced a good two fingers worth of white head that lasts. This is of course on top of a golden orange body brew. Aromas of bananas and citrus fruits filled my nose. Along with the nice spice background note that was there. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with tons of carbonation for your tongue. Very refreshing flavors of fruit with a dry spicy finish splashed around in my mouth "Dangerously drinkable for the ABV" that is well worth repeating, it will catch up on you. Damm LOL

On Tap @ Jake’s Bar and Bistro - This brewery has just hit the washington market and there has been much hoopla about this beer. I Think this beer is a wonderfully light Belgian Style ale, the candied sugars are mild and the alcohol is well integrated... can’t wait to try more! Jake said he will have the Salvation and Pliney the Elder next week and will put them on A.S.A.P.

750 ml bottle @ liquid sunshine - thanks to explosivebeer; now, i just love this beer but as it has made it’s way to some Seattle taps recently, it can be a little hit and miss; not sure if it benefits from being in the bottle as opposed to the keg; either way, bright gold with slight haze and tick, white head; big aromas of yeast, lemons, some spice; rich in flavors and texture; just a delightful beer to drink; probably the only drawback is it makes you drool as you can help but think of batch #23

Pours a clear/gold color with a nice white head. Aromas of bananas, citrus and honey. Flavors include all of the above with a nice spicy addition. Smooth, easy to drink, ABV well hidden.
