Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Pale gold with active fizzy head. Aroma is faint and a bit grassy with sweet and spicy notes. Taste is same, and rather milquetoast. A boring beer from a fantastic brewer. Perhaps the bottle was mishandled, because I smelled neither pear nor bananas. 22oz/13

Batch 13. Light golden color with a big white head. Aroma is lightly sweet with some light peach, citrus, lighter bread, and yeast. Flavor is bready, yeasty and sweet. Some gentle citrus with a nice hint of hop bitterness. Really nice the way everything blends together. This batch was better than the "20" I shared with some guests a few months ago. Nice "everyday" Belgian from Vinnie the Great.

750ml bottle. Batch 003. I’m glad I had the foresight to open this one up in the bathroom. Loud pop, cork flew across the bathroom (almost taking out a light) and an initial gusher (quickly settled down). Poured a medium and slightly hazy golden color with a larger sized head. Aromas of apples, pears, bananas, yeast, and traces of spices and citrus. Tastes of the same fruitiness, citrus, and spices. Lively, but not over carbonated, body.

Aroma: mm, wonderful... apple, passion, sourish, apple peel. Strong belgian, yeasty fresh scent. I love it. Sweet malt, vaguely of caramel. Overal: fruity, sourish, fresh.
Appearance: light, warm golden yellow with a hint of orange. Slight fogginess. White, fine foam with a smooth appearance. Very cloudy towards the last pour.
Flavour: oh my, REALLY nice, sourish sweet, small bitterness, liquorice, rubbery, peary bitterness, corn.
Palate: smooth, mealy, not that carbonated, bit slimy.

On tap at The Alembic in San Francisco. Slightly hazy golden yellow, moderate puffy white head. Soft banana and vanilla aroma. Same flavours, along with some ginger spiceiness, a little yeasty. Very nice.

Bottle courtesy of alexanderj, shared with kleyland. Pours a bright gold with a thin, white head. Hint of bananas and clover. Sweet flavor with a pear-like mouthfeel to finish. Not a fan of this particular style, but this one was exceptionally great.
