May 26, 2007 draft- clear yellow in appearance, large white head. Extremely clean taste, some correander, orange peel. Not as yeasty and wild as other belgians. A session beligian if there is such a thing.

May 23, 2007 Updated: Feb 12, 2009Aroma is sweet malty spiciness and a little clean bitter hops. Pours golden. Has the sweet spicy Belgian golden ale flavor - think Duvel. Pretty fruity and sweet, but this is nice to me as it is a little hoppier and bitter in the finish than most of the Belgians. I remember it being pretty easy to drink too. Not my favorite style, but this is nice.

May 23, 2007 Not a huge fan of the FO-Belgian style, but russian river nails this brew. The smoothness of a beligian slightly tweeked with good hops.

May 20, 2007 bottle....appearance: duvel-ish like in appearance. light, golden, and sparkling with a fluffy white head....aroma: yeasty, bready with banana....taste: much of the same. very clean and refreshing and very non-offensive. i would have liked a little more spice and complexity added to this but it’s certainly tasty belgian ale.

May 14, 2007 Light golden-orange color and clear. Lots of carbonation (by appearance and taste). Thin head but good lacing. Smells like lemongrass. The taste is light, citrus and banana flavors. Nice on the palate, right amount of light, bitter aftertaste. Golden/Blonde ales are usually not a style I go for but this is a superb, very drinkable beer that I won’t avoid. (Another thought: my girlfriend hates the bitter IPAs and dark porters that I drink. When she drinks beer, she usually picks a light, mainstream lager. But I bet she would love this--its got so much more going for it than a lager.)

May 14, 2007 Color was pale gold with a nice head. Taste was citrus, but had a thin though smooth body. The finish was dry, bitter, and abrupt.

May 11, 2007 Poured into my Damnation tulip glass that I ordered avec beer. Lovely straw colored golden hue. Head was nice and full. Aroma - sweet belgian candi sugar. Taste and mouthfeel- creamy mouthfeel, with the belgian candi rolling off the tongue. Light and fruity- some white grape and subdued wood. Finishes dry with a hint of hops. Upon futher reflection, the finish is very dry with some booze present. There is a touch of sourness, but quite minimal. A very solid beer from a great American brewer.
