Commercial Description:
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Bottle batch 41 from 08 sometime? enjoyed 7.15.09. Pours a clear glowing orange golden with a lovely dense creamy fine frothy white head. Quite similar to the Alesmith Horny Devil I had last night. Aroma shows some oxidation, some light citrus, candi sugar, some fruity, Belgian yeast, doughy. Flavor follows, like an abbey triple, doughy, yeasty, very distant fruitiness, a bit of banana, alcohol, vanilla, candi sweetness at first but finishes quite dry, slightly earthy, hops in the finish and aftertaste, with a little alcohol bite. Medium/full bodied with a much lighter mouth-feel, strong carbonation, fizzy with a softer bite, ubiquitous, dry and crisp feeling. This is a better crafted beer than the Alesmith but I think I would rather drink the Alesmith.

On tap @ Toronado: Golden color with white head. Pretty thin on the palate and goes down somewhat dry. Has some bread and yeast characters. Decent beer.

To go bottle from the brewery, paired with a cheeseburger. Pours gold with a big frothy white head. Belgian candy sugar aroma with hints of brown sugar and fruit. Taste is smooth and malty with hints of sweet candy, Belgian esters, pepper, yeast. Really nice Belgian ale, very complex. Finishes with a nice hoppy bitterness.

On tap @ County Cork / Pale hazy gold, large foamy white head that left great lacing. Aroma is yeast, dried fruits (pear, banana). Flavor is intense yeast, bread, a little hops, and clove. The finish left my tongue tingly and slightly numb.

Gold pour with a big, rocky, white head. Light fresh citrus notes balanced by honey, candi-sugar, banana, clove, and subtle oak with just a touch of sourness. Sticky medium body with lots of carbonation.
