ggaughan (94), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Luxembourg Mar 1, 2009 Had this as part of the Monk’s Russian River / Pizza Port dinner awhile back. The beer poured a nice bright gold color with a thin white head and good carbonation. The aroma is very pleasing to the nose. A nice fruity mixture throughout and hints of the yeast that they talk about so much with these beers. Very nice. The taste is just as pleasing as the aroma. This was now ranks up there with my favorite RR beers. It had a nice balance of the fruit flavors, the carbonation and yeast. Well done. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 28, 2008 on tap at the rr brewpub. pours a cloudy orange honey color, with little head. notes of funky bretty citrusy zest up front, with orange and lemon fighting for dominance, and a bit of a woody note in the end. more orange and lemon in the taste, with a kind of light honey malt flavor, hints of brett, and some floral earthy hops. lightly tart finish, moderate bitterness, quite drying. lightish body, light carbonation, extremely quenching. when i was done drinking this, i said to myself, i says, self? this is the best beer you’ve had in a while. WeeHeavySD (2956), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Feb 17, 2008 1/3/08 with BikesandBeer, 9th Brewery of the trip, 2nd of the Day. Finally got to come here. Pours gold with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet, taste is sweet and sour, very very nice. ಠַಠ (1375), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 12, 2008 Tap. Orance, nice bubbles, cute head. Delightfully sour! Dry peaches, a bit of orange and other cirtic notes. Just the right amount of sweet with a leafy-clove sort of aftertaste. Good one. bitbucket (2029), Kirkland, Washington, USA Feb 6, 2008 Growler. Pours clear light amber with a somewhat lacy white head. Aroma of lemon, brett, fruit. Light body. Tart taste of lemon, citrus, fruit, grass. Tart finish. Nice, but not a real head-turner for me. hayduke (1629), Eureka, California, USA Feb 5, 2008 Had to try this as well as I let me Growler of Younger settle. Came in the tulip glass orange with a small head, and left light lacing. Sour apple nose with a little bit of citrus. Smooth and mild mouthfeel. Flavor is tart, and again reminds me of sour apples. Nice bitter finish. Really good stuff. Wulfstan (509), California, USA Jan 28, 2008 Updated: Jan 29, 2008On tap, this is a light amber with a thin off-white head that steadily dissipates to a thin ring. It leaves only a little weak lacing. The aroma is yeasty, citrusy, and lightly fruity. The taste is predominantly tart and sour, with some sweetness and no bitterness. It has a definite yeasty quality, along with sour pears, hint of lemon, and a hint of sulphur-dried apricots, as well as a faint hint of vinegar. It’s clean, light, crisp, and refreshing while the tart-sweet-sour quality is intriguing. However, it has little real taste other than the tart-sweet-sour quality and while refreshing and good to have a little before a meal, it’s not really something I could drink often or in large amounts. It’s main strength to me is how crisp and refreshing it is. JB175 (1660), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 24, 2007 On tap at Russian River - Golden color with a light head. Aroma was big, citrusy, and loaded with Bretty sourness. Flavor is nice and sour with some good hop influence. Citrusy-sour, fizzy/tingly with some pleasant sweet malt and quality yeast flavor - Brett really wins out here. Finishes nicely - I’m officially a fan.
