In celebration of Bottleworks 9th Anniversary, we are proud to present Deviation - a beer unique in every sense. This remarkable blend combines the oak aged diversity of PHI, Orphan Ale, and Sonambic Ale with 100% Brettanomyces Ale (Sanctification) and is bottle conditioned with additional Brettanomyces. First beer of a four beer session (Deviation, Leleenau Good Harbor Golden, Synergy, The Dissident).

Insane nose; prickly with hay, diaper, lemon, funky balsa wood. Pours incredibly dark reddish bronze in color, with sustained small head and compact bubbles. Wonderful acidic balance of a lactic bracing fruitiness -- layers of peach skin and fermenting melon flavors -- with acetic puckering in moderate amounts.

Thought I could taste an aceticness like La Folie but I was more than likely a suggestive subject. Fantastic beer all around. Thanks Geoff.

Bottle from 5000. Rating #1600. Hazy pale, peach body with a medium-sized white head that fades to a lasting cover. Big, funky citrus nose with lots of grapefruit, lemon, cheese, horseblanket and cobwebs. Moderately sour, lightly sweet taste with pithy, citrus rinds, yogurt, melon, light cotton candy and apples. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation. Finish is long with a lasting acidity and a pithy bitterness. This is bringing back memories of Cable Car and Cuvee de Castleton. Lovely!

750 ml bottle shared by theisti. The pour appear golden to amber with a lasting dirty white head that coats the glass as you drink. The nose has some oak, bretty funk, a bit of pineapple, and a bit of a cottage cheese or yogurt. Very tart and tangy. Mixed fruit flavors, and tannic. Medium working on full body. Average amount of carbonation and a bone dry finish. A very good beer from a style that I don’t typicaly appriciate.

Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to Turdferguson for sharing this total gem! An absolutely beautiful tart fruit aroma starts this one off, with a full, slightly cloudy amber pour. White grape flavors mingle with pleasing musky notes, leading up to a long dry finish with dark cherries and oak. In some ways, it’s very continuous with Sanctification, with some slight additions to that sweet beer’s profile in order to give this one a distinct character. It’s yet another awesome beer from Vinnie. Thanks again, Sam!!!

Tap. Brewery. Described as a brown ale on the board, we were expecting something oud bruinish. Not so. More like Flemish red -- dry, red, sour, sour cherries, edges of cheesy funk, clean texture with soft edges in terms of effervescence and creaminess.Prominent wood. Tart of course but not extremely so. Any vinegrous component isn’t prominent. Clean, obviously well-constructed but perhaps not old enough for much of the components to blend or overlay well. I tried a few RR beers today at their 4th anniversary but this one stood out as a favorite even though I think it can and will be even better.

God made this, an amazing beer.... How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain Whatshisname? We live in a society of laws! Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughing, did you?.. Where was I? Oh yeah! Stay out of my booze.

Pours a hazy pale copper color with a white head. Aroma is funky, horse blanket, barn yard, acidic, tart fruit, and oak. Flavor is brett, barn yard, funk, oak, fruit, and a bitter funky tart finish.
