Served in a wine glass, nice orange color, smells amazingly hoppy like Pliny the Elder. Tastes bitter, hoppy, stronger. Honestly I think the Elder is better. This didn’t seem to add hoppy value, only alcohol. A delicious IPA but the elder is better as far as I’m concerned.

Not much head until the end of the keg--that last glass has a big towering white fluffy monster head that really sticks around. Big piney fruity grapefruity nose. Crisp medium body. Doughy malts. Grapefruit and pine...so bold and delicious. Long bitter resin finish. Blisscent (75), East Providence, Rhode Island, USA

Cheers Craig consumed 21-02-09 Pours light amber maybe warm gold difficult to be exact in this poor light with a decent white frothy head. Aroma is simply stunning, I got peaches, Loz got apricots, there was no denying it was floral and wonderfully hoppy. Taste was slick honey, juicy peaches, very hoppy ’piney’ great bitterness. A simply wonderful beer. Big thanks to Craig for this, it was quite unexpected and had made the journey and remained in very good condition. A9 A4 F8 P4 OV16 4.1

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Draft at Colin’s Pub. Pours a clear deep golden color with an orange hue to it. Fairly light white head that leaves a touch of lacing as the sweet nectar makes it way into my belly. Nose is deep resiny hops with tropical fruit (grapefruit, orange and pineapple). Pine undertones are deep down in the nose. Taste is really sweet up front and then smack into the hop resin with some pointed bittering on the end. As I sit and think about the assault on my tongue, I have some grassy pine tastes lingering in my mouth. Glad to try this one, ABV is well hidden. Just not the best DIPA that I have ever had in my book. ksurkin (373), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 21, 2009 tasting glass poured from a growler thanks to Kevin at grape & gourmet. honestly, i never thought i would have the chance to try this beer, and it truly lived up to its reputation. pours a very bright, clear golden color with a smooth, thin white head and very nice lacing. aroma was astounding. huge, citrusy and floral hops with scents of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange peel, and roses. big, resinous pine scents and candied sugar rounded out the aroma. flavor is phenomenal. again, huge citrusy hops dominate but an amazing tropical fruit sweetness and piney bitterness make this one truly unique. mouthfeel is slightly sticky and medium bodied with solid carbonation and just the slightest hint of alcohol burn in the dry, piney hop finish. incredibly drinkable for 11% and while not as balanced as the Elder, i truly enjoyed this one more. cheers to my first perfect DIPA.
