JoeMcPhee (3815), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Apr 23, 2006 750 ml corked and caged. Batch 1 courtesy of jimbowood. Cloudy pale yellow with a thick white head. Highly carbonated (nearly put my eye out with this one). Fantastic aroma, strong funkiness, earthy and dusty. As it warms some delicate custardy aromas come out of the glass as well. Flavour is lightly sweet up front with a strong yeasty funkiness. Barnyard and black pepper. Lingering bready/wheaty flavour with a bone dry finish. Champagne-like texture. Sublime flavours for such a low alcohol beer (although it’s probably closer to 6% by the time the Brett is through with it). Apple/pear and a lingering dry spiciness. Really tasty, amazingly drinkable. I was very sad to see the bottom of this bottle.
hapjydeuce (581), Carlsbad, California, USA Sep 3, 2008 Another backlogged rating from RBSG ’08, sampled at the Grand Tasting at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours blond with modest carbonation. Fruity nose of pear, peach and orange rind. Lighter breadish malt base and soft bitterness. Simple and elegant. illinismitty (1456), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 30, 2008 Sampled at RBSG, and many thanks to the generous member that shared this one. Pours golden with a slight haze and white head. Nice fruity and yeasty nose. Soft pillowy texture and perfect mouthfeel. Flavor is simple yet addictive- yeast, pale wheat malts, lemon, and a hint of spice. Tartness is tame, but keeps it in balance. This is surprisingly good for a retired 4.8% beer. I bet this was even better fresh. Miver (435), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 12, 2008 750ml bottle. Thanks Dickinsonbeer. Poured a cloudy gold in color with a medium sized white head which left a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is yeasty, bready, with a little citrus. Taste is of straw, mild wet dog funk, spices, citrus, and overall a bit watery not a lot of brett. I was thinking this might have aged well with brett, but it really didn’t. miketd (375), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 8, 2008 I can’t remember who sent this(odeed?), but thanks! Batch 1. Opened the bottle, and it was spewing for quite some time...very lively. Gold with a huge white head. Aroma is of sour yeast and citrusy lemon. A bit tart with a bunch of carbonation. Fairly thin body. Easily drinkable. xnoxhatex (791), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 20, 2008 Bottle shared by drewbeerme at an "Evening with Pantanap #3" Bottles 11/30/05 Thaks Andrew! Cloudy straw orange color wih huge white fluffy head. Light and sweet lemon aroma with rich citrus, a little funk. Grassy, peppery, grainy flavor, sweeter orange, like a blood orange, slight hops. Watery but still some carb. Past its prime, very earthy.
