Commercial Description:
This Belgian style Strong Dark Ale has a tawny brown color and aromas of banana and spice that dominate the initial bouquet of the beer. Lean malt flavors blend perfectly with fruit driven characteristics created by the classic Belgian yeast which fermented this ale. The alcohol content is deceptively smooth just like its sister beer Damnation. Brewed just once a year for a release in January.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thick light orange head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy with especially cinnamon coming thru, while the flavor is sweet malty again with a strong spicy note, but here cloves are the strongest component. The end is dry with a spicy note still lingering around.

(Bottle 75 cl) Slightly hazy, orangey brown with a dense and lasting off-white head. Lightly tart and perfumy aroma. Medium body with complex notes of caramel and overripe fruit. Very subdued bitterness. 080107

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with a small off-white head. Roasted malty aroma, light spiced and estery. Sweet malt flavoured, solid estery and roasted malt in a slight astringent mix. Ends phenolic and dry.

Bottled. Dark ruby, creamy head. Fascinating aroma of lemon, aniseed and licorice. Sweet and densely malty with medium body. Licorice and aniseed are on full display overshadowing grainy roasty flavours and plums. Soft and dangerously drinkable. Salty finish. A beer with lots of character.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Deep amber colour with mediumsized creamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, fudge, nuts, tropical fruit some licorice and vanilla. Flavour is quite much the same with some spices and dried fruits added. Marvellous brew!

Hazy cherry-brown colour. Brown sugar for light toffee. Starts sweet with plummy notes, hints of brown sugar, alcohol/pepper. Somewhat toasty and seems quite a bit drier than the one I had seven weeks ago. Same exact score, though.

(750ml bottle, Batch 2) Large pillowy beige head atop clear dark amber body with dead yeasties. Aroma is moderately sweet, plum, spicy Belgian yeast, some alcohol, pepper. Taste is moderately sweet, candi sugar, alcohol, some banana, plum, light metallic. Watery medium-full body, low carbonation. Evokes weizenbock, but too much alcohol.
